Our Coffee and Tea
Delicious Shetland coffee, with welcome at its heart
In Shetland, we’re not just glad to see you;
we’re ‘aye blyde’ to see you.
And we’re right blyde to bring you freshly brewed island coffee that’s as warm and heartfelt as our famous Shetland welcomes.
Give your coffee the Blyde Welcome treatment

At Blyde Welcome, we are passionate coffee lovers who hold ourselves to high standards. We know that, like us, you have discerning tastes and expect nothing but the best from your favourite blends. You won’t find instant granules in our range!
We believe that great coffee should not only satisfy your palate but also make a positive impact in the world.
That’s why we take pride in every aspect of our process.
To ensure freshness and minimise travel miles and processing steps, our coffees are locally roasted and packed in Orkney. Our roastery is certified by the Fairtrade Foundation, the Rainforest Alliance and the Speciality Coffee Association. By working with the Orkney Roastery, we’re aligned with coffeekids.org, helping to improve the livelihoods of farmers and their families in our specific growing regions and beyond.
But our commitment to making a difference doesn’t stop there. We also prioritise our local community here in Shetland. By employing local staff and investing in the development and upskilling of our clients’ establishments, we directly contribute to the growth and well-being of our community.
Each of our coffees is named after our beloved Shetland beaches, capturing the essence of their stunning landscapes in their flavours. Just like those beautiful beaches, our coffee is an inviting place that will beckon you to return time and time again.
When you choose Blyde Welcome, you not only savour the exquisite taste but also become part of a movement that fosters sustainability, supports farming communities, and empowers local economies.
Join us in this remarkable journey, and experience a coffee that not only delights your senses but also leaves a positive mark on the world.

Sustainable tea from eteaket
Creating a legacy of quality, ethics, and sustainability in tea.
Founded by Erica Moore in 2008, eteaket is based on the belief that we are all born to chase our dreams and follow our passions – something which is very close to Celia’s heart.
Blyde Welcome is proud to be working in partnership with Erica and the team in Edinburgh to bring you the highest quality and ethically sourced grade leaf tea and teabags from around the world. The tea cartons are 100% plastic free; they are made from recyclable cardboard and the inner bag, although it looks like plastic, is actually made from wood pulp.
As the name suggests, our Keepsake tins are designed to be used over and over again. Simply decant your favourite tea into the tin.
Our pyramid tea bags are also plastic free. They are unbleached and made from a derivative of cornstarch. Ultrasound is used to attach the string and tag, rather than the customary glue.

In 2014, Erica launched
Cuppas for Causes.
This initiative promotes charity relationships both in Scotland and further afield. Eteaket currently supports the Scottish charity ‘Health in Mind’ which provides a range of services to support people and enable them to make a positive difference in their lives.
Tea types
Black tea
Black tea accounts for over 95% of all the tea sold in the UK. It typically has the highest caffeine content and has quite a robust flavour. Popular eteaket black teas include ‘Breakfast Blend’, ‘Royal Earl Grey’ and ‘Lapsang Souchong’.
Green tea
After the tea is plucked, it is left to wither on bamboo trays, allowing the moisture to escape. The leaves are then quickly steamed so as to preserve as many of the natural properties as possible. Green Tea is considered a healthy and enjoyable drink. We particularly like eteaket’s ‘Blooming Marvellous’ green tea.
White tea
White teas are the most rare of teas and undergo the least processing. The new buds are picked in early spring and then left to wither in the sun to allow the moisture to escape. White tea has a subtle sweetness and many natural properties. The newest white tea in the range is ‘The Balanced Mind’ – a blend of Chinese white tea, fruit pieces and warming cinnamon to help you stay alert and relaxed.
Herbal and Fruit Infusions
Herbal teas are not actually a tea at all!! Made from a mixture of herbs, flowers and dried fruit, they tend to relax, invigorate and can aid healing. Nature’s very own medicine cabinet. A real favourite with the Blyde Welcome team is Cranberry Apple Riot but look out for the Seasonal Infusions as well.
